Feeling the Need to Write Something

16 September 2009

I really don’t know what to write, so I’ll probably ramble on for a while.

In my Anatomy & Physiology Lab I think the teacher is fascinated by me for some reason. You see I missed the first lab because of the mix up at the Admissions and getting all my classes canceled, so I was obviously behind. But I checked the web site for information and did some studying and when I walked into the class for the first time, apparently I was more prepared than anyone else. So when I answered the first question she had asked, she kept coming back to me all the time.

Perhaps I should also mention that I am the “eldest” student in that class and I’m probably older than the teacher by 10 years. The young girl that sits across from me is also stunned that an “old guy” (her words, not mine!) like me is also kinda smart. She’s is such a baby… She’s probably 18 or 19 but looks like she’s 12 or so. Sheesh, I’m older than two or three of the professors!

I also know more than one of them. The Technology in Society class is taught but someone whose knowledge strictly came from books. I betcha I could hand him a crescent wrench and he’d have no idea what it was or how to use it! I’ve actually corrected him twice in class. One of the times I waited to break time and corrected him privately. He’s a whack-a-doo gun control nut, and he was saying some things that were… incorrect and a bit insulting. So I had to explain a few things to him that he had gotten wrong.

On to other things.

We buried Tika last Friday in a nice spot in the back yard. I keep looking around for her and it hits me all over again that she’s gone. Every once in a while I’ll look at one of the cats and see Tika there instead and then I’ll blink and she’s gone. M wants to get another cat, but I’ve pretty much put my foot down on that idea. We have four more cats here that need our love and attention here at home.

Things here at home are both falling apart and coming together at the same time. The house is having little issues and I don’t have either the time or the money to fix some of the problems. I’m drinking entirely too much, way too often. I’ve gained weight and I really need to lose about 30 pounds. When M started working at the VA she started going to the gym there so we shut off the other gym membership. I haven’t even got on a scale in over a month because I really don’t want to know how much I weigh.

My hands, my right elbow, upper back and my neck (where I have that herniated disk) are constantly hurting and I can’t call in a re-fill on the anti-inflammatory that helps that because I’m fighting with the insurance company and they refuse to pay for anything right now. It’s a pain in the ass because I also need to get my eyes examined and re-new the prescription for my contacts, and I can’t afford to pay for everything out of pocket.

My car is still broken and I can only drive it a short distance at a time. The good news is that the motorcycle is still going strong and I still enjoy riding.

I’ve been feeling the need to write some more poetry so if things work out you may be treated to a new installment of “Confessions of a Poetry Snob” in the near future. I keep getting phrases and words stuck in my head and sometimes the only way to get ‘em out is to write ‘em down.

For those of you who don’t know, I call it “Confessions of a Poetry Snob” is because I really don’t like most poetry and if you are someone who writes poetry: Sorry, I probably won’t read it. But I have the temerity to write poetry myself and post it here expecting you to read it. What can I say?

Well that’s going to be all for now. There is plenty more floating around in this noggin of mine, but I have to get my butt off to class.

I’m Alive… So Far…
