Well, I got the official word yesterday (Friday) that I will NOT be going to Europe in February. Apparently I’m too important and needed in the job I’m doing now. Which means I will be going to second shift soon, if not next week, then it will be in January after the Christmas break. I’m a bit pissed off about it all right now.

I should mention that M works day shift and we bowl every Friday night. Bowling is about 95% of my whole social life, and nearly every friend I have is from the bowling alley. When (not “if”) I go to second shift, I will lose all of the time with M in the evenings and lose spending time with my friends at the bowling alley.

I want to ask if the Company would be willing to allow me to work 4 days of 10 hour shifts. Since it’s just Donnie (my trainer) and I running the machine we don’t have to worry about a third shift person. Donnie works from 5am to 1pm anyway so if I came in at 1pm and did 10 hours I’d still be out at 11pm and have Fridays off so I can bowl with M and the gang. Even working an 8 hour shift would get me out at 9pm so I might see M every once in a while before she went to bed. But I have my doubts as to whether or not my boss will let me go to four 10 hour shifts, because then everyone else will want to do it too. Can’t let anyone be different from everyone else when you work in a plant, you know.

This weekend I almost bought a truck. Nice 2006 Dodge 1500 4x4. But M and I decided that we need to pay off a few more bills before I can get rid of my PT Cruiser. So I’m going to drop about $1000 into the PT over the Holidays, to get it up to a good condition. I need to put struts on the front and replace the water pump and timing belt. I might get the chance to buy a replacement vehicle next summer if things go right. I’m a bit pissed off about this little deal too. Four years ago, M’s car died on us and she insisted on getting a brand new Dodge Dakota four door truck or nothing. So we got her her truck. But now I need to get a vehicle because the PT is slowly coming apart at the seams and she insists that we DON’T need it. Even though we can afford it we don’t NEED it and if the PT blows the fu-frick up next week or next month… Oh, well.

I’m just a bit resentful about the whole deal.
