Spring Fevers ...

This Spring has been a trial. I caught a cold in late february. It lasted until near the end of March and I still am congested with a near constant nose drip. That has been aggravated by the seasonal allergy onslaught. Yesterday the tree pollen count wat way over 1000. I go to level three when that happens. I have to drive with the windows up and the AC on freeze. The house allergies are high. Cat hair, dust and leakage of whatever is outside. Everything has bloomed and pollen is thicker than fog.

Two weeks ago tomorrow - Thursday - I tweaked my entire ribcage on a chunked hard golf swing. I kept twisting but the club stuck. I haven't played in two weeks and tomorrow is the morning I usually go out with the Men's Club at Seneca Hills. Not yet!

Last Friday evening I was moving my quarter ton barbecue and pulled my right hamstring. It is awful. I started Percodan yesterday just so I could function.

This morning the rib thing has got my back in pain. When will it end?

The day promises to be a slow and easy one. I have to go buy

1. Cat food cans
2. Drano Gel (dammit!)
3. Bread of some kind
4. Claritin
5. Zyrtec
6. Ibuprophen

Oh my!

Taking oxycontin (Percodan) means no alcohol. The combination makes one a strange person to be around. I enjoy social activity and must drink nothing stronger than coffee for a while. Alcohol and Oxycontin can make one a bed-ridden vegetable. Who wants to be a turnip?

That pains me even more, looking at these bottles of Laphroaig my dear, loving, good friends and family have awarded me for my birthday. I received four!

That's a very bountiful harvest! A year's supply if taken modestly.

But now I can't.

Onward, then. Maybe a light lunch at Bob Evans? A visit to look at cowboy hats over at the Farmer's Supply Warehouse Store? A walk through at Big Lots?

I hate getting old. I'm a Peter Pan character. I have been seeing a 29-year-old princess. I love rock and roll, baseball (playing it too) and joking. How can I get back to my better self where pain was only an "Ouch."

Oh my.

I am not soliciting sympathy, and I realize tons of folks on MyBloggers are going through much worse difficulties, but, boy, do I need a change!

As a lifelong phsyical effort junkie, I try to do some of it every day so that when I do something more strenuous I don't get clobbered. I just got a HoMedic back massager (with tax and handling, about $50). It is like a car seat. I keep it on my computer chair. It vibrates. It is helping.

Hello,
No sympathy from me only two tips: One, take shallower divots, and Two: a couple of doses of pure honey and cinnamon a day…. Best wishes

I am not trying that oxycontin (sorry you have to). Can't drink scotch anymore either but do indeed like a glass of good Oregon wine or pint of Terminal Gravity IPA (fantastic ale) (limited to 1 but I appreciate it). Zyrtek more or less works for me, too. Well, here's to your better health, good friends, and eventually that Scotch

take it easy with those ribs, pal. last time I swung a golf club, I was sore for over a week. haven't been out to the driving range yet this spring but I'm dying to. We all try and do physical stuff we can no longer do (I tryed climbing on a chair to hang a mini blind the other day...big mistake). It's our way of being in denial about getting older.
Take care of yerself,pal.

reguards
yer denial is a river in Egypt pal

When you stop moving 1/4 ton bbq's you might not have so many problems--hate to say it but you aren't young anymore--let the kids do the moving (and swinging!)

On the way back from seeing Mom I drove past the Marathon gasoline station. This morning regular gas was 3.549. At six p.m. it was 3.799. A 25 cent increase in seven hours? Wassupwidat?

Is there a light lunch at Bob Evans??????? Is that an oxymoron?I read that even salads can be high in calories, such as Pecan crusted chicken salad at Fridays is 1360 calories! Good grief

jd--As we get older, we have to remember that discretion is the better part of valor. Give up the lifting; ease up on the golf swing, and take it a tad easier. You can still have a good life, with a few limitations. I've had to do the same, after I nearly ruined my back moving sand.

Whoa...Laphroaig is one of my favorites...4 bottles?!! Nothing like a good, peaty single malt to cure what ails you.

Jon! Sorry about all your aches and pains and even more sorry that I missed your birthday. I hope you had a happy one - it certainly sounds as though you did with four bottles of booze. So, Happy Birthday a bit late. I hope you have many more.

I think you should start taking tai chi! it will limber up those muscles, preventing injuries. and its also a form of relaxation!

Now your Laphroaig will last longer.
