Love this one, JD, with its wild growing trunks.
I can feel and hear the winds off the Pacific,
just like that long ago time
when I sat in the sea spray
on the coast of Monterey,
making memories to last a lifetime.

I'm still dreaming of your "Sunflowers."
Forgive me and my frail finances....
.... One day, I hope....

Already let you know that I love this- especially the pink in the receding pathway. Who would have thunk? Pink? But it is oh, so beautiful.

Beautiful. Makes me want to be there.

I like the almost fractalesque rhythm to the trees, and the contrast to the rounded shapes of the stones and the straight horizon line, and of course I love the colors. Move over Winslow Homer!

A good one!

As you remarked in an earlier reply, I can see the Tolkien-esque trees. The tree at the cliff edge seems to appear with a face, excellent

In order to keep the fantastic paintings you have been producing to date, stay with the inspiration you have been adhering to - it works brilliantly

Thx. I keep getting requests to "paint a nice country cottage like the guy who does those paintings on black velvet." LOL.
On the Monterey Peninsula in California the flora is unlike anywhere else in the western hemisphere. In my book it is the most beautiful place in the USA. Everywhere you look you see a potential painting.

it.

The wisps of blue-white in the sky. And the trees. I am a tree person.

I love the Monterey cypresses. They are like trees right out of Tolkien. All twisted, wind-bent, swept around, and their trunks resemble driftwood.

Am I blind? I am not seeing this on your webpage for purchase... ?

I like the browns in the green grass to the right, and the colors of the sky and water, plus is that a little hint of a wave I see there in the corner of the water?
comment by troutbend on Nov 10, 2010 9:06 AM ()
The right side "grass" is actually ice plant, the California succulent ground cover. The little white spot in the lower right is surf wash. You're correct. Notice that at first the sky seems to be all one color of the same value, but it isn't. It gets lighter and hazier toward the horizon, which is what the sky always does.
