Last Night ...

I was ticked off that the weather delays at the Indians-Rays game were filled with old golf tips on the Fox Sports Indians channel, so I switched to the Tornado Channel and watched the weather drama there.

1. Some day one or two of those storm chasers are going to get killed. I guarantee it, because they get too close to those monsters, and last night a couple crews actually drove right into the funnels. Only a moron would drive TOWARD a tornado. The best view of a twister is the one in your rear view mirror.

2. A lady on the Weather Channel keeps saying that the conditions "... are favorable for the development of tornadoes..." FAVORABLE? I call that highly un-favorable. Lemmeouttahere!

3. I would not live in OK, KS, TX, NE or MO for love nor money. Well, maybe, depending on the size of the bribe.

4. So today we are in the 'severe' weather red blob on the Weather Channel's map. I have the windows open because at dawn it was cooler outside and the cats hate being closed up in hot weather. When it rains I shut the windows and all they do is complain. If the town sirens go off they won't complain about being able to explore the sinister cellar! OBOY!

The worse place, other than standing out in your driveway, is to be in a vehicle when the twister hits.

3 people from "The Discovery Channel" were killed when the tornado they were following suddenly turned in their direction and they couldn't get out of the way. My question is this, why were you following an F3 tornado that closely anyway???

One of the storm chasers was killed. One stupid weather man advised people to get in the car and go south which was right in the path of the
storm. We are used to them Jon so they don't stress us out the way they
do people not used to them. Fredo and Mike stayed very calm too.

watched what you descibed-- that chaser in his car was starting to panic, weather presenters say some queer things

I still think an old lady with gout is a better weather forecaster than the TV "meteorologists."

I thought at first there was really a Tornado Channel. -- But maybe there should be, now.

Stay safe--- I don't like those severe weather warnings anywhere nearby!

Remember that balloon boy hoax from several years ago? Maybe not. The dad was supposedly a storm chaser, and the family had been on Wife Swap where the swapped wife was appalled that he was taking the little children out looking for storms (you know how those reality shows like to manufacture drama). Part of his punishment for wasting all the time and resources of search and rescue folk here in northern Colorado, not to mention scaring the crap out of everyone, looking for his kid who turned out to be taking a nap in the attic of the garage rather than soaring over the plains in a home-made weather balloon/UFO is that he can't be on reality TV any more. So now, whenever I think of tornado chasers, I think of that publicity-hungry family. But I'm sure that most of the storm chasers are doing weather reasearch.

I did not watch, but isn't this weather system hitting the same Oklahoma area that was just hit? Is Jeri okay?

The Weather Channel meteorologist and his crew, who says they were trying to outrun the twister last night in the WC van, as in get away from it, when they got swallowed by the tornado, were just plain lucky. But they kept the film rolling!
