Last night I went to the baseball game up in Cleveland at Progressive Field (formerly known as Jacobs Field, fondly still called "the Jake.") It was the second of a three game series with visiting Detroit Tigers, the team with the best pitching and hitting lineup in the division (but sorely not living up to the expectations of their fans.)
It was Dollar Dog Night and I try not to miss those events. I only ate five this time (one beer). My standing record is seven, but I don't think it will ever be broken. During the game I sat in section 135, left end of the Indians dugout. Row 5. Good spot for foul balls.I always take a glove and I did miss one foul by about a yard because I had a half hot dog in my other hand.
A lady walking through my row of seats spilled beer on my shoes.
The Indians won 4-2 and I scampered to my car, about three blocks away. I got on a freeway almost immediately and meandered through the mazes to the Ohio Turnpike and was back home in about an hour and fifty minutes from the time I started the car. My car rides smoothest at 75 to 80 mph.
No deer on Route 53, thankfully.
I got into bed around 12:30 a.m. I had to get up early for the retired men's Thursday nine-hole golf league out at Seneca Hills G.C. I was so pumped from the trip and the game that I awoke at about 5:30 a.m. and couldn't go back to sleep.
I got out to the course, signed up, paid the cash and found my three teammates. The round grew warm, then hot. By 11:00 a.m. it was already about 84F. We finished 4 under and tied with two other teams for second place. 5 under won the big cash. We won three bucks each.
I had a beer then headed for home. I barely had time to wash my hands and face before I got a call that my Art Guild Auction posters had been printed and were ready. I drove to the guild gallery, picked them up and walked a mile or more of the downtown dropping them off and taping them up in various businesses. Tomorrow I have to distribute more out west at the many businesses out there.
Hot and cold. 90F on the sidewalks. A/C running in the stores. I almost got a case of pneumonia enduring the temp changes.
By the time I got home my uncle called and wanted to take me out to dinner, so I freshened up again, fed the kitties and walked out to his car. We went to T.J. Willie's and afterward I collapsed in my LR wood chair (great for back pain, which I had by then) and checked the news. The Indians won the game with Detroit today! Swept the 3-game series.
Now I am considering going to bed and sleeping the whole day and a half off. I am bushed. The cats are bored. The night has fallen.
Oh, yeah. Yesterday I did manage to finish a painting I had given up on about four months ago.
My daughter and grandson had beer spilled on them at a Garth Brooks concert by a young woman. It turned them off concerts.
