Anniversaries ...

April 24/25 will be ten years I have been involuntarily 'single.' I hope I find a twenty dollar bill so I can celebrate it by repeating that night's memorable dinner and get a Chimichanga take-away. I think I brought home a tostada with no beans for her but she only took a few bites until I heard the hyperventilation and the "I have to go somewhere by myself for a while... yada yada yada" LOL.

Yesterday was 100 years since the Titanic struck the iceberg and sank with huge loss of life, primarily because they were racing to New York to break the record and win the coveted Blue Riband. Another reason for the deaths was the fact the Cunard Line people did not pack enough lifeboats for the passengers. I would love to take a sea journey on a ship, but most of my travels have been via airplanes, which do not carry lifeboats at all. I think about that whenever I fly.

A Chimichanga is a deep-fried burrito.

Sending some LOVE vibes your way Dude & a (((hug))). We all mark the passing of time by celebrating (or not) the beginnings or endings of things. The harsh reality of it all is that time moves on . . . I hope that time brings you happiness, good health & success xxx

About eight hours after I wrote this post, Hobbes passed away in my lap. He had wet FIP, which is always terminal. Now, a week and a day later, I picked up his ashes and brought him back home.

I just looked back at your earlier posts so I know about Hobbes' illness. Forgive my stupid question.

Jon, I had no idea about Hobbes! So sad for you. Was he sick long?

So very sorry for your loss!

I don't have a date or even an exact month for when I left my x. He remarried almost within weeks of the divorce becoming final.

I fail to see what the big deal is about the Titanic sinking a hundred years ago.

Two divorces for me--22 and 12 yrs ago. I don't remember the months. But I love my freedom. As the old Carpenter song goes, "We've only just begun"!

Planes have flotation devices under the seat though.

My 25-year marriage also sunk in April, 13 years ago. My iceberg was my ex's alcoholism, which finally killed him last June.

I am a fan of happy endings so I don't watch anything that ends badly or
stresses me out.

My youngest went ape sh** over the movie and Leo. Now her ten year old son can't get enough of anything to do with the Titanic.

My dad died in a Cessna crash ten years ago on April 12. In some ways, ten years is a long time ago, and in others, it's not. As we get older, our perception of how fast time passes seems to change, and I sometimes wonder if the speed of technology has something to do with this. Please give the kitties a hug for me.

Did I missed something?

I couldn't watch the movie because I knew the ending. Also Leonardo DiCaprio is a big yawn for me. Poor monitoring of distress calls on the wireless contributed greatly to the tragedy. Standards for distress signals were modified since then to avoid being buried in nonessential traffic. One operator, hearing the call, was so busy with transmitting passenger messages, that he told the distress operator to "shut up."

I don't care for him either. He looks wimpy to me.

Titanic = macabre fascination with tragedy. The whole thing was because of criminal acts by the owners. People died, and so did all the pets on that ship. All because the owners wanted a medal.

I just read Randy's blog where he commented on the Titanic crap. So what? 99 years, 100 years.... silly humans, we can make a big deal out of anything if it involves a "round" number.
