Good grief! I usually don't click on abuse stories when I get links in Google pet news, but for some reason I opened this one. The perpetrator is a 79-year-old woman! Can you believe this? Naturally I thought of bad behavior and Donna... The boyz are safe, but I on the other hand still have all my original equipment. Guess I need to behave from now on! Move over Loraina Bobbett!
A 79-year-old woman from the New South Wales Hunter region has been fined for mutilating her dog's genitals.
Amalia Nabor from Raymond Terrace admitted to cutting off one of her pet maltese terrier's testicles with a razor blade, to punish him for bad behaviour.
She pleaded guilty this week to aggravated cruelty and failing to provide appropriate veterinary treatment, and was fined $1,000 and placed on a 12 month good behaviour bond.
RSPCA inspector Dean Hawkins says it is a disturbing incident.
"There was a large amount of blood discovered where the dog was confined," he said.
"They then took the dog to Raymond Terrace Veterinary Clinic, conducted emergency surgery on the dog for a wound to the dog's scrotum where one testicle had been removed with a razor blade, and the dog's now made a full recovery."
