She did leave the rabbits in my care, so maybe I could organize a dog vs. rabbit race or something like that! But that might very quickly turn into a dog chases rabbit race, so I'll have to give this careful consideration. Coonhounds are fast, and even tho bunz hop, I'm not sure they have a fair chance!
I could play with the B-day present I gave Donna, but I think she took it with her. Such a sap that I am.... "Oh come on", she said, "I'll be back in classes by the time my b-day comes around (Sept 11) so can't I have it now?" So of course, even tho I'm not the people-pleaser of the family, I said "Of course, sweetie. Have fun with it!"
I could wash some more drapes... Not that that actually constitutes excitement, but last time I did that, the backing stuck to itself, and the entire set had to be replaced in the bedroom. The excitement comes when she sees the damage, and then again when we buy replacements--oh, the choices! But funds are tight, so I best leave well-enough alone when it comes to window treatments.
I could go spend some more time in the garden. The squash are coming along great!

I'm not sure I even like butternut squash. I meant to get the yellow ones, but came home with this instead. We like to mix the yellow and green, fried in butter or EVOO. This stuff is supposed to be sliced in half and then buttered and baked with brown sugar, although my buddy puts maple syrup on it. Hopefully I'll fancy it, since Donna won't eat it on Atkins, and there will be plenty of it!

This one is almost ready to go. In fact, it's been looking like it's almost ready to go for days. I hope I'm not leaving it longer than I have to, but I think it's supposed to be more beige than green.

Three of the cucumber plants have survived, but they are not producing like the squash. But the cukes are seedless and delicious!

Here's one more pic. I took it for the lone surviving lettuce plant, but the colors are nice and the marigolds are doing rather well.

Ok, I have to go think about getting a cake in the oven while the weather is cooperative. It's been on the cool side here for the middle of August, although I'm not complaining. As always.......
