A Day Without Bubba!
A Day Without Bubba!
The long-scheduled work on the house finally began last week. Two guys showed up to remove tile from bathroom #2 and install the new tub surround. Looks like they also finished the plumbing. Still need to replace the floor, which is probably no big deal to somebody who knows what he's doing.
That was Friday a week ago.
This past week, only one guy showed up (Bubba) to repair and paint the ceilings. Turns out that Bubba actually does nice work when he knows what he's doing, but for the time it took, well,... he did what he did and the ceilings look Ok.
Bubba and the boss are supposed to be back tomorrow to finish bathroom #2 and start bathroom #1. Then they have to replace most all of the electrical outlets with grounded (three prong) receptacles. Hmmm... that might be all for the inside... sounds manageable!
Then they need to get snow stops installed on the roof and replace the vent pipes before the snow flies. We had one snow event so far this season, but it melted quickly. That won't be the case next time, since daytime temps will now stay in the 40s. Then they need to put up siding, and except for a few small details, they will be done.
But it's nice not having Bubba around for two days!
We have a Butternut Squash and Apple Casserole in the oven to take to a 4C-Camp for Adults covered dish, camp reunion, planing session this afternoon. The last meeting was canceled due to weather. That sort of thing happens a lot around here during the winter.
I'm looking forward to this meeting. I'm on the Marketing Committee and so far, most of my marketing activity has involved administering the Camp page on Facebook. I have some ideas on getting t-shirts ready early and perhaps having those stick-on-glass stickers made with the camp logo. Some people are afraid to spend money on marketing, but I have come to know that it's necessary.
Happy Thanksgiving!
(My recent history of posting suggests that I might not post again until Christmas).
