In a reply to Gwen's recent post I mentioned that I am also in need of losing a pound of 30 for the benefit of my A1c and my knee. I realized after she replied that she'd read my blog that I haven't mentioned the 4-3 plan here.
The other day on NBC Nightly News there was a segment that reported that a diet plan that involves partial fasting has achieved better result than expect and also that it's healthy. The basic idea is to eat normally (or slightly more than usual) on some days and very reduced calories on other days.
I'm not one to follow rules but the idea is that calorie reduction itself causes weight loss but the body doesn't go into "famine mode" and burn less calories due to a decrease in intake.
My A1c has crept up to 6.9 which is no longer per-diabetes so I must do something. In theory, I produce enough insulin to meet my body's needs if I have less body.
Once I make up my mind to do something it's as good as done so the challenge here will be not to reduce intake on the days when I'm supposed to be eating in the manner to which I am accustomed. Yesterday I had a large salad for dinner and today I had two burgers on buns, but no fries and no potato salad or any of those extra carbs.
Tomorrow for dinner will be BBQed pork and I suppose I'll have a few tater tots and vegetable. I'm so motivated I can feel the tonnage declining by the second.
In other news, our early spring has been preempted by winter so it will be a few days before I get much done outside. But I had so many nice days already that I'm all caught up. The mower is ready to go, last year's leaves are raked and composted, the wood I cut last year and didn't have room for is split and I'm ready to start cutting! Can't wait for 50s again. I live to be outside!
Happy Spring! Next post should be about 4C Camp for Adults: we put a day program together for 2016.
