Mom's pool is up, just in time for her grandsons' arrival last night, thanks to Jenn's and my efforts. Now we are working on our own pool. I had to bring in some sand. There was twice as much as what you see on the trailer. I pulled it with the Blue Trailblazer you see behind it. Two tons!! I couldn't believe it. Now Sofia gets a sandbox, for sure. A big one.
Here's the work in progress. Backbreaking work, as I have no wheelbarrow. So, the five gallon bucket will do. Old school. I used a water level which includes a five gallon bucket (5-gallon buckets are handy for many things!), clear plastic tubing and some water. Randy will know what I'm talking about. I only forgot to pack down the sand as I went, so this year, we'll settle for semi-level and next year we'll add more. It's still better than it was. If any one laughs at my elaborate levelling system, I'm sending you a virtual dirty look. LOL
I am also planning to install this gate between my house and the neighbor's fence to keep out the neighborhood kids. If I could, I'd build a wall all around our house. Those kids keep messing with Jenn's flowers out front and damaging them. ARGH!!
Here are some of Jenn's flowers out back. I think they are beautiful. Professional weeding services provided by yours truly. She picked the yellow one, as it had fallen over and she wanted to enjoy its bloom a little longer inside the house.
And finally, the garden. In the foreground, onions (green pulling onions and red bulbing onions), Then, a lone squash plant, reborn from one of last year's hidden seeds. In that same row, carrots and beets (not so thriving), Then okra (or okrie, if you're native Oklahoman), Then butternut squash, yellow squash, cucumbers and zucchini. Beyond that potatoes, tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, radishes and lettuce.
I'm having a good summer. Enjoy y'alls holiday this weekend!
