Semblance of Normalcy

Yesterday was a uniquely satisfying experience. Most of you are going to gag when I tell you what I did and why it was so satisfying. I mowed and picked up debri and cleaned a gutter and washed the car. It was satisfying because, for the first time in my life, I was able to do those things in a house and yard of my own. It was a Saturday spent working at home, something for which I have long envied other people. It was a semblance of normalcy!
Tomorrow, if I can get my ducks in a row, I'd like to try planting a small garden. I've been reassured by several people that it's still not too late to plant. Jenn and I love fresh veggies and they are so expensive at the store these days. This Oklahoma red earth should be pretty good for growing things, so I'm told.
In other news, I've been trying to read new people on MyBloggers these days, my little show of support for our little community. One guy hasn't written yet, but he always seems to have been online just shortly before I get online. I wonder what he does here, if he's not interested in writing anything. Maybe he signed up just to read.
I've been spending more time with my aunts and uncles on my dad's side of the family lately. It's a really good family and I love them all. There's just so much to be learned from our forebears.
Temperatures have been in the high 80's and our air conditioner is still broken. The repairman I've been calling since Monday (May 23rd) was supposed to go to the house on Saturday. Well, it's Sunday and he still hasn't called or stopped by. Bad business practices.....blech!! Tomorrow is a holiday and I doubt anyone will want to work on it. Poor Jennifer just has to work a little while and rest a while.

I think it's great (your return to normalcy). I just wish my Honduran daughter would do the same. Perhaps some day.

You never know. She might. I never expected this for us, but it's working and it seems to fit. You can always hope. I think my parents always hoped and I know my Grandmother did. She made her wished known frequently. "Jeremy, I will ya'll could get a job somewhere up here in the States!" She passed away before her wish came true. RIP

I'm so glad you are back in Oklahoma, Jeremy. I feel for Jenn, being pregnant with no air conditioning. I HOPE that repairmen shows up soon. Doing normal things on a Saturday on your own property must truly seem like a blessing.

Wish you had had time to call. Maybe next time.

As strange as it sounds, it is a great blessings and has a wonderful calming effect on me.
We're going to Ft. Worth on Tuesday, I think. I would love to meet you in person, but our schedule looks like it's going to be packed. If it works out that we are able to stay longer than we plan, I might "hunt you down".

Jeremy, if you can cancel your repairman, call Dwight Nelson. He is listed
in the phone book and has saved our lives many a time at a more than
reasonable charge. His operation is one man but he and his father have
been in business for years. He is only listed personally. Write this
down for next time. When we had rental property, Wiggy's Plumbing and
Dwight were all that saved us.

I'll keep those names in mind. A friend is coming tomorrow to fix ours. We've been hanging out at Dad and Mom's. Jennifer is prone to get sick if she gets too hot, not to mention the pregnancy. I was out working in this heat today and just felt like I couldn't get enough water.

Anyone can visit MyBloggers and read blogs, but only members can comment. My husband signed up and discovered he was too private to write anything. He shudda asked me first. It's great you are enjoying your new home. I hope the chores don't get "old".

I hope they don't get old either. I've been watering my little garden faithfully and it appears to NOT be dying. That's progress for me. I usually (inadvertently) kill anything green.

I'm sorry Randy--that's solitaire not solitude though you and I prefer the latter. :O)

Well it looks like you and solitude (Randy) are the only normal ones here--or at least boasting that you are!

Yes some people just read and don't comment and or write posts--some just leave--it is the blogging game!

These are just things I always saw other people doing and envied them for it. I was always traveling hither and yon. BTW, since you posted about two ring-necked doves, I've seen several in different places, on pair in our back yard. They are beautiful.

We are happy as well, and are grateful for the friendship of people like you and Jeri. She brought over our favorite dish the other day, LASAGNA! I'm thinking of sending her some homemade buttermilk bread soon, or some other yummy, baked food.

Even though it is none of our business, both Jeri and I are thrilled to pieces that you and Jen have moved to Oklahoma and are near your extended family and getting settled into your normalcy. We worried all the time when you were in Mexico. Well, not every minute because we had to take some time out to worry about our husbands' various shenanigans, but we got back around to you with frequent regularity.

We're thrilled, too, although we miss our friends and work in Mexico terribly. Thanks for your kind thoughts. We're still adjusting to the hectic American schedule.
