Mechanic or Pastor

I should have studied auto mechanics instead of going to the Bible Institute. Now, as a pastor, so many of our congregation have so much trouble with their vehicles (most of them more than 20 years old). I help them when I can, when I understand the problem and am able to fix it. I've repaired broken fuel lines, changed pumps, filters, brakes, alternators. I've even done some diagnostic work, detecting the source of the problem even when I can't fix it.
You see, there are two professions, besides politics, in which I have absolutely NO TRUST. I do not trust doctors. I do not trust mechanics. There is nothing I hate more than the feeling that I'm being lied to and I firmly believe that people in both professions have done that to me. So, when we have a mechanical problem, I wish with everything within in me that I could fix it myself. In fact, I've seriously considered going to a mechanics school in Guadalajara to learn all these things that I wish I knew.
I would help these people out.
Meanwhile, we'll keep trying mechanics to see if we can find an honest one.

I am lucky that my ex-husband's uncle is a mechanic. Also lucky that he doesn't hold the divorce against me like the rest of the family! I'm very grateful to have someone I trust to take my car to!

Necessity is the mother of invention. It's "on the job" training. I've learned to do many things by myself over the years, but auto mechanics isn't one of them. Hang in there.

A mechanic certificate would be a great double major to compliment your religious degree, and then you'd have something to fall back on should Randy and Teal's pessimism about religion become endemic. Seriously, I think it would provide a great service, and I think you'd get a lot of satisfaction out of it. Also, you could come up here and help get our old Ford skid-steer running again.

I am a "fixer" also, but lately can't do it - sister tells me I am too old to fix the leak under the sink, put up a down spout on the patio, and repair all three bathroom sinks - the think that goes up and down doesn't work. So I guess, I will pay a plumber $200 to do it. Makes me mad that I am so olddddddd.

Your job now embraces car repair? You are a great guy, Jerms. I hope
Jenny is feeling well.

My job embraces whatever I might know that can be of assistance in this stinking third-world economy. The Mexican government will have some serious accounting to do in the afterlife for keeping its people so oppressed. I'll do almost anything in my power to help ease the financial crunch most of my congregation lives in. Looks like I've almost started another rant. Thanks for stopping by.

You don't trust your doctor ? and find an honest mechanic --must be a great many crooks where you live

I might be a little paranoid, but here in Mexico, not even the Mexicans trust the mechanics. Doctors are touch and go. I've got one I think tells me the truth. Thanks for dropping by.
