A few months back I posted a note on a local Net Mums forum to try and make contact with local parents of children with food allergies. Nothing much came of it, although I was contacted by one mum with kids around the same age as mine.
We chatted a bit online and discovered we had already met in person! Her son went to nursery with mine last year but she had moved her son and daughter to the morning session this year as it suited her family needs better.
We have been IM-ing almost daily over the past few weeks and finally decided to bite the bullet and have a play date. Today was the day! My boys were a bit hyper, they always are at the prespect of children visiting. The kids played away great and I have so much more in common with A than I realised. Age, family problems, kids with health issues, men who hate DIY blah blah blah. The three hours that they were here flew by and we have loosely arranged to have a return game at their house this Thursday. It will be good for J as there is only aroud 8 children in his nursery class who will start school with him. This way helps bring his number of well kent faces up a notch.
I am hopefull that we will be able to progress from here as I have let opportunies to make new friends with near by mums slip through my fingers in the past through my general shyness. I am not really shy once you get to know me just to begin with. I am as good as a penguin at breaking the ice!!
Better go I am "free-cycling" some old baby clothes for a friend of mine who has just had a baby girl, busy washing and folding so that we can visit her sometime over the next few days.
