Continuing Education

Recently I have been doing a lot of thinking as to what I am going to turn my hand to when the time to go back to work arrives. I have a degree in Environmental Technology but I think I have left it too long that all the legislation etc that I have studied will be obsoliet. I have decided that I fancy going into the world of IT. I have looked at the posibility of studying at home in my spare time (there's a laugh!) to gain a qualification in the IT field do that I can perhaps work from home when the time is right.
The problem is that I am not sure where to start, what area I want to study and what the costs will be. As a result I have registered with various home study sites for more information and so far all I have had is a phone call. Although it was a promising phone call as it was from the tutor who would be mentoring me should I choose to study their courses. The result of the call is a meeting on Wednesday, next week, for me to look over the course materials and ask questions etc. I am hopeful that there will be something there for me and that I will be able to start on one of the study programmes without having to gain entry qualifications.
Would this make me a computer geek? From the look of my avatar I am already well on the way to looking like one!
