I am once again Chair of my kids' school Parent Council. I have spent alot of time over the summer looking into different fundraising ideas and have come up with what I hope will be a real winner!! I have organised for a mobile movie company to come to the school and screen 2 films which are fairly recent. The criteria is that a movie has to have been on general release for 4 weeks before it can be shown by a mobile cinema company. Since we live 25 miles from our nearest cinema I think it might work. Although it has been a tough search as there are plenty firms in England and I have only been able to find one in Scotland prepared to travel to our area.
We are able to screen two films to a combined audience of 500. In order to break even seats need to be sold at £1.25 so we can still make a fair profit and undercut the cinema by a fair whack if we pitch the ticket price realistically.
The kids are going to get a chance to vote for the movie they would like to be shown. Choices are
The Smurfs
Mr Popper's Penguins
Zookeeper
Spy Kids 4
Dolphin Tale
There is a fight in my house between my three as two want Spy Kids 4 and my daughter wants The Smurfs! I know which one I'd rather see and it is not the blue and whte, 3 apples high dudes!!
Notes went out to all the children yesterday so I will hopefully know how well this notion has been received before too long. I hope the older kids choose Super 8 or Captain America, both of these look awesome.
I really hope it is a success as potentially we could raise enough money to cover the normal out goings we have in the form of school trips etc with this one event.
