Finals Finally Finished & Stormy Weather

image

Who’s finally finished with finals?! Me! I’m super excited. I finished with all my finals yesterday and I’ve just been relaxing and living it up since then. Definitely something to be grateful for. Not to mention Holiday break has begun and the second semester doesn't begin until mid-January. Exciting!

But at any rate, I’m enjoying being through with my first semester of college - went so fast! I don't really want to think about having to register for next semester of classes, but I won't have to worry about that until the New Year. So far I've been receiving decent grades in most of my finals - what's nice are the grades are posted almost immediately online, so there is no waiting. The only course final that I'm waiting on is my Intro to Architecture final. It included not only completing a final exam for the class, but also writing a college level term paper. When I was in high school we didn't write many term papers - only two that I can remember, and both were in English courses. This paper for my Architecture course was very difficult mostly because I had to involve organized research, proper formatting and a strong argument that I had to provide evidence for in the paper. Not only that, but I also had to talk with my professor first before working on the paper, because you want to be sure you're on the right track. Also, choosing the research topic was tough for me, but I feel pretty confident that it was a good paper.

We have a major snowstorm (apparently)coming our way in the next few hours. The city where I live, which is west of Milwaukee, is expected to receive 7-12 inches of snow which is a pretty good amount, even though I doubt we'll get that much.

I took the dog for a walk when the snow started and took a picture of a thistle bush covered in snow.

Tomorrow night I'll be seeing The Hobbit with Brent - he's a big fan of J.R.R. Tolkien who also wrote the Lord Of The Rings series. I saw the first LOTR movie and liked it a lot, so hopefully this one will be just as good.

Happy Holidays!

I was there for the storm, my mom and I actually went to a baby shower at 5pm in the brink of the storm! It wasn't too bad - she said - but I Would have stayed home. Living in the Washington DC metro area has made a wuss out of me!!!

I hope you made it through the storm OK. From the news this morning, it sounds like it was quite a doozy!

I remember the sigh of relief that always came about at the end of a semester, knowing that I was free for a few weeks! Now, I have to wait a little longer for that sigh since I have to do the grading of final projects (I don't do final exams). We usually run right into the holidays for that.

Enjoy your break!

Thankfully my area received a small amount of snow...mostly high winds and freezing temperatures. It was the cities on the western part of the state that got hit the hardest - one city reached over 20 inches in 4 hours!

I hope you and your husband have an enjoyable Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Hopefully you've finished grading those final projects for your classes - that must really suck having to do them at Holiday time.

I was old(er) when I started college in the 90s and each semester seem intimidating, but as you say, they passed fast. The requirement for a graduate thesis at my Alma Mata was that it be publication quality. LOL Gawd was that an intimidating thought at first. But when the time came it fell together. Have fun and Merry Christmas!

Thanks. You too!

Having a publication quality graduate thesis does sound really intimidating - hopefully I won't have to ever do one of those in my lifetime.

Happy Holidays!
