USA #4

After already been in the USA for 7 days we left for our final city (just a 1 night stay on our way to Washington Dulles airport): Baltimore.
We stayed in the comfort in a kind of motel outside the centre of Baltimore. Same hotel group as in Lancaster (comfort inn) and the same kind of not-interested front desk personnel lol. Room was ok btw. We asked the man behind the desk where to find public transport to the centre..... he only waved with his hand and was not able to explain anything at all..... We also ask someone of housekeeping and she gave a much better answer. We drove to the light rail (about 2 miles) and then went to the centre by train.
In Baltimore we first had a little lunch (just pizza...my one and only slice during this holiday lol) then we went to the water taxi and visited several parts of the centre. Also walked a lot off course and ate some very nice Italian icecream. Because we were in Italian mood we also had an Italian dinner. A great pasta was served...pity it was too much. Btw I hate the American way of doggy-bags to take your lasts rests of your dinner home. We just aren't used to it in Holland (actually feel embarrassed a bit lol).
At the hotel we watched a movie on my laptop (leap year) and had a quite relaxing night, cause the next day was "travel" day to Orlando.
At the airport we wanted to check in but...... I had too much weight in my suitcase. Weird cause it was exactly the same in Amsterdam. We removed some books and jeans and put that in the hand luggage. Embarrassing being busy with that in a line up on check in lol. On the airport we had quite some time ( cause we needed to deliver our car back at 11.30 and the flight was at 14.40 or so).
It was a nice flight to Orlando. We picked up our car ( a Pontiac) quite quick and drove to Kissimmee (Amada resort). We had made a reservation in February for 4 nights but....it wasnt there (lucky we had a conformation). So it took some time before we could get our room. A nice one I must admit btw.
Temperature was still nice, I dont complain about that so far. No rain at all in the first 8 days......
To be continued

But that is them and not me.No doggie bag.

Yes portions are too big here--but not for me!

This water taxi thing is fairly new in USA and I love the one we have here in Fort lauderdale---and I even met a Ducthman on one!!!

I've been lax on keeping up with you and your travels. Sounds like you're having fun and eating well. I'll backtrack on your posts when I get the time. Doggybags are a way of life in America!

US hotels and motels overbook all the time. It's a pain in the rear because even with confirmation in hand you are forced to wait while they kick somebody out of their room so you can have one.
