Tis a sad evening, blog pals. Tim Russert, NBC Washington Bureau chief and host of NBC's long running news program "Meet the Press" passed today of a sudden heart attack. He was working on that very program in his Washington offices when he collapsed. He was rushed to a local hospital by paramedics who tried to revive him but to no avail. Mr. Russert leaves behind a wife, son and father "Big Russ" about whom he wrote a best selling book a number of years ago. Mr. Russert was only 58 years old. Three years older than yer own Bugg, I might point out.
Tim Russert was one of those rare breeds...the hard hitting, ask the tough questions, don't let the bastids wiggle out of it journalist. I watched Meet The Press regularly and was impressed with his ability to hold the shitpoke politicians feet to the coals. He was a non compromising searcher for the truth. He was much too young to go and in a world such as ours we need his like to ask the tough questions of, get straight answers from and expose the dirt on the lying scum we seem bent on electing as our leaders. His insightful analyses on election nights made sense of complicated electorial facets. He was one of my favorite on air newspersons and I was deeply shocked and saddened by this news today. All thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and collegues tonight. He will be so sorely missed.
