I'm sorry I read this so late, but I really have no suggestions for you. All I have is sympathy. I've gone the AD route with two close relatives, and it is a sad, taxing, and frustrating scenario.

Sometimes life just flat-out sucks. I am so sorry for the pain you are going through. When I get to feeling poorly, I too want to keep everything inside and deal with it. However, I find that when I open up and let my wife in, things feel a lot better a lot quicker.

Think of the joy that your letter and /or card brought her to prompt her DIL to write to you! I like laid-back holidays too. Very low-key and easy on the wallet. (Not that I mind skinflint, but spending money just for the sake of spending money is a Madison Avenue-driven idea.) It's much less frenetic and MUCH more enjoyable when you throw out the guilt and anxiety! Ummmm..."Coolio"???!!!
I really believe that religion defeats its own purpose. I too HATE rewriting, but I'd rather do it myself than have somebody else screw up my "baby." Mary Ellen will be in Palmetto, which is on the Gulf Coast about 40 miles south of Tampa.
