I got a call from
Anita's sister Tuesday evening that Anita was in hospic by her request and her life
was coming to an end. The picture above was in happier times, back in
2004 at the celebration of my 17th Leap Year birthday. Though I am very sad at losing this friend she did
bring a smile to my face when we spoke a couple of weeks ago. She and I
had spoken how we want our life to end and we decided that we would be
cremated and have our ashes scattered on the 6th Street beach in Miami Beach so
that we could cavort among all the tourists and have fun with them. She's waiting there for
me but I know she wants me to take my time and that just makes me smile!
My week started
off with John and I going
to see a movie, "The Ghost
Writer" and then for pizza and salad at Big Louie's. On Wednesday,
before I ran my errands, Allen and I celebrated St. Paddy's Day by
having corned beef sandwiches at the Quarterdeck, a place I hadn't been
to in years. I am going to write a blog both about St. Louie's,
where I was working when I retired and the Quarterdeck.
And then Thursday came along, which means I
do all my food shopping, usually starting at The Dollar Tree store, only
this time I made a fantastic discovery there, a gadget called a Finger
Peeler and I am constantly using it, with a BIG smile on my face!!!
Friday, being movie day, Allen and I went to
see "The Bounty Hunter" and then drove up to Smokey Bones, where I had
$20 credit, for dinner.
Yesterday, Saturday, we went to the car show
figuring we would win the lotto or power ball last night and I need/want
to buy a car as soon as I get the money. Long story short--I didn't win
anything and Allen won $3--looks like no new car this week!
The only one I
didn't see this past week was Gino but we had gotten together last week
when he took me out for my unbirthday.
Yes, I 'lost'
Anita this week and didn't win the lotto or power ball but I spent time
with friends, not to forget
the round table breezeway meetings in the early evenings, daylight
savings time is back, our weather is on track, discovered something new
and one of my favorite people are back!
Should I ever complain about my life you have my permission to
smack me on my butt because not many people enjoy the life I have, do
the things I do and/or have the friends I have--not to forget one of the
women living here said I can use her car whenever I want!
