I
never met a camera I didn’t like. :O) At the age of 10, or was it 11?,
I was given a diary and a camera--yes, we had cameras back in the
stone age--and was told to keep a written and visual history of my life.
I have never regretted that except for not doing either for a 3 year
period in my teens. Not only is it fun to see how I looked over the
years but what I wore and the various ‘changing of the hair’. I, also,
can look at the photographs of places, people and things and/or open my
diaries to any day and a flood of memories come back. I have so many
wonderful memories, and pictures, of friends over time, sadly losing
many to death.

Talking about taking pictures--after 6 years my digital camera gave out and I don’t have the funds to buy one as good as that one has been so the other day I bought one for $21 at CVS!!! Not the best, certainly doesn’t allow for much such as zooming or having a flash but it will have to do. These are two pictures I took with the camera when Freddy came over to cut Norman’s hair.

For
those of you old enough to remember when you would go to the movies and
see 2 pictures, a cartoon, coming attractions and a newsreel you might
want to tune into TCM this
evening when they are showing some of the old “March of Time” newsreels.
You younger ones might want to tune in and see history being recorded
as it happened. I am sure they will be repeating them.

I
very seldom keep emails but I guess I can delete the one I sent on
March 13, 2008, to Vladimir who stopped blogging. He was a really great
guy who posted some very interesting blogs. We have lost a lot of good bloggers along the way. In some cases I know the reasons while in others they just disappeared.

Allen’s father died last week and he drove up to Plattsburgh for the funeral. For awhile there I thought the hurricane would catch
up with him but it didn’t. He’ll be driving back the end of this week,
or the beginning of next , so I hope he doesn’t get hit by bad weather.

Check
out the GREAT GAY AUTHOR series--I have learned a lot doing the
research and I really appreciate all the e-mails and comments from
people reading them. I just wish younger people would as there are
excellent writers and books listed but then are young people reading
today?

We
finally have gone below the ‘feel like’ temperatures of 100+--we only
hit 98 yesterday but back to a feel like 100 today! That’s okay as I
will take the heat and humidity over getting a hurricane or all the cold
we had at the beginning of the year.

I’ve
discovered that talking to plants is not the same as talking to birds
though I must admit the former seem to be growing better but I do miss
the latter!!
