Sleeping Pattern Returns

I love to sleep and always have. One of the things I was worried about
regarding getting older was constantly hearing that I would need/get less sleep.
Not true, folks!!

I, also, associated taking naps with being old. Now I have no objections once
going to sleep staying asleep for hours on end but I didn't like naps.

After my operation one of the things that was really messed up was my sleep
pattern. There didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the way I was sleeping
and most nights I had to take a tranquillizer to fall asleep. I was use to going
to bed and reading for an hour or two, turning the light off and falling asleep
immediately. Now I found I couldn't read in bed and getting to sleep was a lot
harder plus where I use to wake up between 10:30 and 11 I was now waking up
between 8 and 9.

In addition there was also the problem of finding my eyes getting very heavy
and wanting to close about 4 or 5 PM and trying to take a nap but unable to fall
asleep. All this was happening since my operation.

The last two weeks my sleep pattern has changed again, mainly going back to
the old routine. After the news at 11:25 PM I take a walk around Gateway going
down to the point and talking to the security guard for awhile. I will get into
bed and read for awhile when about between 1 and 1:30 I start feeling sleepy. I
turn the light out and almost immediately fall asleep[. I have stopped taking
tranquillizers to get to sleep. A couple of nights this week I have awoken at
around 2:20 AM and I come to computer to play a couple of games of Free Cell and
hearts and then go back to sleep until 10-10:30 AM.

Surprisingly enough the past few days I have taken a half hour or so nap in
the afternoon--guess I am finally, definitely old!!!

It's good to sleep and, by the way, even though I may, I don't recall ever
dreaming or remembering any dreams the next day. I do 'dream' or plot my way to
fall asleep with a scenario when I get into bed--it could be just mentally
writing a blog for the next day or another chapter in my book but it works every
time.

Sleeping is good!!!!
