The only kind of shopping I like to do is food
shopping--I really enjoy walking down the aisles, looking, touching, feeling and
seeing the produce, meat, packaged and canned goods--seeing what people buy and
whether they place it in their basket of just throw it in.
I dislike window shopping, clothes shopping,
computer and furniture shopping and any kind of technology shopping. I usually
know what I want before I go into the store and just want to get in, get it, pay
for it and leave.
I felt I needed a recliner
to help with my breathing and sleeping problem so I asked Gino to take me around
to the thrift stores, which is the only way I could afford one. I do know that I
didn't want a bulky leather (or phony leather) one but one that was compact,
didn't take up much room and was comfortable.
We went to the Salvation Army, Habitat For Humanity,
Out of the Closet and Poverello but they didn't have any. Our last stop was
Faith Farms and they had a pair for $45. Only needing one I asked what it would
cost and he said $22.50 but here was the kicker: it would cost $60 to deliver
it!! I said that I couldn't afford it and as I was about to walk away a guy said
he had a panel truck and would deliver it for me. We talked and agreed on a
price of $20 to bring it to my place and into my apartment.
I turned to Rob, the
'salesman', a hunky kid from Tennessee, and told him to write up the sale which
he did saying that he would charge me
only $20--must have been my charming smile or the fact that I mentioned I lived
in Memphis for 10 years ????? LOL
In any case I now have a compact, comfortable
recliner and soon will test it out (and I am sure it won't be long before the
birds 'christian' it! :O)
