Must See TV This Week!

(All times are EST.)

This month the TCM cable channel is having "30 Days Of Oscar"--see great classics like "Gone With The Wind", "Some Like It Hot", "The Ox-Bow Incident", "Duel In The Sun", "Stalag 17", "Heaven Can Wait", "The Good-bye Girl", "Ordinary People", etc.

Tonight on PBS--10 PM--the definitive, and sexiest, version of Jane Austen's "Pride And Prejudice"

Wednesday on PBS--the recent revival on Broadway of Steven Sondheim's "Company" with the original cast including the Tony nominated performance by Raul Esparza--arguably Sondheim's best score.

Saturday on PBS--9 PM--"The Bad and the Beautiful" with Lana Turner (Oscar nominated for her role) and Kirk Douglas--an M-G-M classic.

THE SHOW OF THE YEAR--ABC--8 PM--THE OSCAR AWARD SHOW!!
I am rooting for Daniel Day-Lewis in "There Will Be Blood" and am torn between Julie Christie and Marion Coutilard-- both gave excellent performances--hope it is a tie. Aside from that I will be very tee'd off if "Atonement" wins best picture!!

I saw a Best Oscar Moments show the other night which included a brief look at Liz Taylor appearing at the 1970 show. I was in absolute awe of her beauty. And 3 cheers for Julie Christie who will always be "Lara" in my heart, as "Dr Zhivago" is one of my all-time favorite flicks.

The transformation was great.Remember Ox Box with Hank Fonda
Heaven Can Wait was great with the lovely Ms.Tierney and Andrew.
Duel was a good one with Peck and Jones, they had a steaming
scene in that one at the time.
