Rendez-vous French Bakery and Bistro Review

I
had been to the Rendez-Vous French Bakery and Bistro a little over a
year ago when John treated me to lunch there and though I had enjoyed it
I knew I couldn't afford it on my own so when theer was a pay $2 for a
$25 coupon I grabbed. The stipulation was that you had to spend $35 but
it still was a good deal.

It
had previously been a restaurant called Food Lover's but the current
owner, a Frenchman, took it over about 3 years ago and, with a little
change in decor, has made it a cozy restaurant. Jane came over, greeted
us and brought our drinks right away though she had a few tables going. A
little after that a waiter came on the floor. Aside from the regular
menu there was also a board with specials.

Allen
ordered the Beouf Bourguignon ($16), from the special board, along with
an Iced Tea ($2) while I ordered the Seafood pasta ($14) from the
regular menu and coffee ($2). We were brought some warm rolls which were
really good. Allen's dish was served with mashed potatoes and a side of
salad while my pasta had shrimp, mussels and scallops with a garlic
based sauce and, surprisingly, with grated cheese on the side. Most
chefs would scream if you put grated cheese on shell fish. Both dishes
were good.

Of
course being in a French bakery we had to have dessert--isn't that the
law?  We shared a Cream Brulee ($3.80) and a Napoleon Pastry ($3.80),
both excellent.

The check, with tax and minus the $25 coupon, came to $19.10 and we left an $8 tip.

Though
$13 each is a little high for lunch--the desserts! LOL-- budget wise,
it was certainly worth it and I wouldn't hesitate to go again if they
offered another coupon or someone wanted to treat me!
