It
seems as if all of a sudden 'Southern Home Cooking" is becoming the
'in' thing among Fort Lauderdale restaurants. For many years, aside from
barbecue places, we had only "Betty's" concentrating on the fried
chicken, collard greens and cornbread aspect of the South and now they
are sprouting all over the city.
Granted a buffet brunch isn't really the best
circumstances to judge the merits of a restaurant but if they are
offering one it should show their food off. They 'push' the Southern
comfort food along with food being made on the premises.
I
did think the pulled pork and fried chicken were good but most of the
other food items--they say 30 different dishes-- were bland which
Southern home cooking certainly isn't. The desserts were NOT to die for
and most were put together, not made, in the restaurant.
The service was a team effort and the restaurant had a comfortable atmosphere.
Though it is not unusual I have never understood why you will get a complimentary Mimosa or Sangria but you have to pay $3 for the same amount of plain orange.
The brunch is $15.95 plus tax, tip and extra for coffee. For 3 of us the check came to $70.
They do have an early-bird from 4-6 PM, are opened Tuesday through Sunday and plenty of parking and just recently opened for lunch.
