I
think if I live another thousand years I will never understand people
and what motivates them to be so mean and nasty especially when a person
is feeling all sorts of pain and is extremely vulnerable.
A
resident's son was living with her due to his disabilities because of
diabetes such as recently having 3 toes removed. He was recovering and
getting around though having a couple of problems with his kidneys being
under doctor's care. She had gone away for a few days to visit her
boyfriend who use to work here.
A few
days after she was gone he was found on the floor of their apartment
having had a heart attack, a stroke and was in coma. He was rushed to
the hospital and his mother came rushing back.
This
past Monday the decision was made to pull the plug and take him off
life support. He was 47 and had just recently lost his wife. His mother
was in remission from cancer. I don't know how a parent survives the
death of their child but she was hanging in their and doing her best the
past couple of days.
Today she received
a call from the child and family welfare services saying that they
wanted to come over and talk to her. It seems someone from Gateway had
called them and filed a charge of child abuse against her! Child? He
is/was 47! She had taken care of him the past 3 years and, even though
he had gone through a lot, he still was a happy guy, getting around
without any trouble. I don't know the law but can a 70+ year old mother
be accused of abusing a 47 year old man? I know there is elderly abuse
and child abuse but this sort of sounds out there.
What
puzzles the hell out of me is how does a person do something like this
to a woman who is mourning the death of her son, still has to see him
buried, remove his clothes and things? She will have to move out of her 2
bedroom apartment to a one bedroom apartment and in the middle of all
this has to deal with authorities questioning her behavoir with her son when whoever called in the charge knows no more than
anyone else living here. How can people be so cruel, so unfeeling, so
mean?
How can someone kick a
person when they are down? Why are human beings so mean to each other?
What happened showing compassion to another person? Can someone hate a stranger--because whoever reported her is a stranger to her and her son---and this is what is called a 'christian'? How sad! How mad!
What is wrong there?Abused do not think so.Did someone complain to the office of family Welfare.Sorry to hear this.Hope that things will turned out fine for her.
