Did
you know that a Panaretto is the 'name of a wooden serving plate which
is the traditional way to serve pizza in Venice which makes cutting the
pizza easier and preserves the crust by eliminating the condensation
that a common plate generates'? I didn't but I found out this afternoon
when we went to have lunch at the Panaretto Trattoria. My bad that I
didn't order the pizza or bruschetta or even take a picture of the
wooden plate! This is from their website which is all in Italian!
In
spite of being in a strip shopping center the inside of the restaurant
was clean, neat and had a warm feeling. I will say, from beginning to
end, Gabriela, was one of the best servers I have seen in a long time.
At all times she was waiting on 6-8 tables and doing a superb job
without any help. I didn't ask but I have a feeling she may be one of
the owners.
Allen
had the Penne pomodoro basilico which was tossed with a homemade
marinara sauce and fresh basil ($10.50) along with his diet coke
($1.75). I had the Penne aglio olio e peperoncino made with a garlic
sauce, extra virgin oil and crushed pepper ($10.50) and freshly made, by
the cup, American coffee ($1.50). Both dishes are served with warm
bread and a small salad on the same plate.
We
both agreed the sauces tasted homemade though the pasta could have been
warmer. With a restaurant.com coupon, the check, with tax and tip, came
to $19.96 I would definitely go back but next time order a pizza or
bruschetta. The menu has a whole page called 'Be Your Own Chef" where
you can choose vegetables and/or meats and/or sea food and/or herbs and
spices and/or cheeses and any combination of them.
For fun go to their website www.panaretto.com and see how much, if any, Italian you understand!
