Between
January 1 and December 31, 2009 I saw 79 movies in the theatre. I
believe movies are made for the big screen--no, a 60" screen doesn't
qualify--and should only be seen on DVD if bought after seeing it in a
theatre and on cable or network TV if you missed it showing at the
local cinema.

Out of 79 films I wasn't
able to pick 10 best. For me to be labeled that means I want to see it
again and will buy it on DVD and/or make sure I see it when it is on
cable. This year 3 reached that category and I got lucky that my number
one film for the year was sent to me as a gift (THANK YOU RICHARD) when
it came out on DVD and I have watched it many times since. I have
posted a review of every movie I saw in 2009. In all these years (70?)
of movie going I have only walked out on one film and that happened in
2009!

THREE BEST FILMS OF 2009

1.
"EVERY LITTLE STEP"--This is the movie "A Chorus Line--the movie"
should have been . It follows behind the scenes of the auditions for
the revival of the classic musical. It is a must see for anyone
thinking of going into show biz or are in show biz or loves musicals,
whether on screen or on stage, or wants to experience all sorts of
emotions from pure joy to pure despair.

2.
"VALENTINO: THE LAST EMPEROR"--Not only the story of a talented,
famous, eccentric designer but a love story of a couple showing the man
behind the throne.

3. "THE READING"--Not only did Kate Winslet deserve to win the Oscar for this picture but the screenplay leaves
with you the discussion of what, and why, she did what she did and the
answers vary.

THE NEXT 7 ARE GOOD BUT NOT QUITE THE BEST.
