Movies 2009 the Bad, the Ugly Part 2

Something is wrong when out of 79 movies I can only
come up with 3 best movies. Have I seen too many movies? Are they not making
good movies? Am I too demanding? Maybe, maybe and maybe. I had no problem
listing the 10 worst movies and, in fact, if I added the blah ones and the ugh
ones plus some of the better than I expected ones, but that doesn't necessarily
make them good, I wouldn't have  a problem making a 20 worst films list.

I sort of slighted "IT'S COMPLICATED" because while
a fun, adult movie it wouldn't be in my top ten--probably number 11.

WORST MOVIES (IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER)

"GRAN TORINO"  "CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC"
"LITTLE ASHES" "FAME" "NEW MOON:TWILIGHT SAGA" "THE MEN WHO STARED AT GOATS" "I
LOVE YOU MAN" "WENDY & LUCY"
"THE UGLY TRUTH"

THE BETTER THAN I EXPECTED CATEGORY IN NO
PARTICULAR ORDER

AGAIN--YOU CAN READ MY FULL REVIEWS--POSTED
HERE

"JULIE AND JULIA" THOUGH NOT A STREEP FAN
I ENJOYED THE JULIA HALF AND COULD HAVE DONE WITHOUT THE JULIE PART

"INGLORIOUS BASTERDS" I DON'T LIKE TARANTINO AND PITT DOESN'T DO MUCH FOR ME
BUT CHRISTOPHER WALTZ SAVES THIS MOVIE

"LOVE HAPPENS" IT DOES AND ISN'T AS BORING AS I
THOUGHT IT WOULD BE

"THE BIG GAY MUSICAL" THEY REALLY TRIED, AND
SOMETIMES SUCCEEDED, IN GETTING LAUGHS AND HAD SOME GOOD MUSICAL NUMBERS

"CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON" DIDN'T QUITE MAKE
IT

UGH! CATEGORY

"THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE"  "NIGHT AT MUSEUM, PART
2"

BLAH CATEGORY

"STAR TREK"  "HARRY POTTER AND HALF BLOOD PRINCE"
"HE'S NOT THAT INTO YOU"

DISAPPOINTING CATEGORY

"PRECIOUS"--THE LAST HALF HOUR IS THE WHOLE
MOVIE

"UP IN THE AIR"  CLOONEY & FARMIGA GREAT BUT THEY AREN'T THE WHOLE
MOVIE

"A SINGLE MAN"  NEVER CAME CLOSE TO MY
EXPECTATIONS

"THE HURT LOCKER" EXPECTED TO BE MOVED AND
WASN'T

"WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE" BORING

"PUBLIC ENEMIES"

That leaves a little more than 40 movies, more than
half of all I saw in 2009, to the JUST OKAY CATEGORY including such films as "Angels & Demons", "The
Proposal", "Food, Inc.", "Capitalism", "Fantastic Mr. Fox", "Avatar", "Cloudy
With Meatballs", "Amelia", "The Blind Side", "2012", "Everything's Fine", "The Brothers Bloom" ,
"Outrage", "Frost/Nixon", "Taken", "Sunshine Cleaning", "Adventureland", "State of Play", "17 Again,
"Obsessed", etc., which shows you that I see all genres--could it be a lack of
taste or just the fact that going to a movie on Friday, and, now and then, on
Tuesday is a must?
