Mo0viepass--for Movie Theatre Goers

Awhile back I heard about moviepass and when I read about it there were some things that just made me say no. Last month Jeff Black, mentioned it and provided the two site addresses below which I’ll get to in a minute.

I decided to go ahead and order it. I got a year for $89.99 which allows me to see one movie FREE every day for 365 days! I figured if I just saw 10 movies in the coming year I would be ahead of the game. I am keeping score—I got the pass Dec. 1 and have already seen 3 movies which would have cost me $30 and with all the Oscar-worthy pictures coming out this and next month that fee will be paid and I will be seeing 11 months of movies for free.

That $89.95 was a special promotion and now it is $9.95 a month—depending on where you live just going to the movies once that month you are ahead of the game plus you will be able to see 29 or 30 movies for free the rest of the month.

Granted not everyone is a moviegoer like I am—I see a movie every Friday and, occasionally, on Tuesday so we are talking at least 52 movies a year—you figure the math on what I will be saving using what it costs at your local theatre.

Also, I prefer seeing a movie on what it was made for—a movie screen!! I don’t care how big a TV you have you will not get the impact of the film.

There are a few drawbacks like, for instance, if you go to a movie with someone they have to have their own moviepass—you can’t buy 2 tickets on the same pass. Also, and this doesn’t bother me at all, you can’t use it for 3D or IMAX movies. Another thing, which doesn’t affect me, is that you can’t buy your tickets in advance, only at the box office, and the latter is how I get my tickets anyway.

The only thing I am concerned with is “If it sounds too good to be true it usually is!”  According to my math all I have to do is see 7 more movies and I am ahead of the game. As it is I plan on seeing “Call Me By Your Name”, “The Great Showman”, “The Post”, “Wonder Wheel”, “Darkest Hour”, “The Shape of Water”,  “The Disaster Artist”, “Phantom Thread”, “Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool” over the next 4 weeks so as long as they stay in business for a month it works out!!

Sounds like a good deal for you. Probably a lot of people don't want to feel locked into going to a lot of movies, but if they thought about it, it's a bargain.

Anyone who goes to 2-3 movies a month saves money--I go to 4-6 movies a month--I don't know how the theatres make money or this company does but it's my Christmas present to me!!!
