In the Loop--a Movie Review

I'd
like to blame it on Allen but, really, I can't. He had to choose
between two movies: "In The Loop" or "Inglorious Basterds". I really am
not into Quentin Tarantino and I didn't look forward to this particular
movie because of the gratuitous violence and when was the last movie
Brad Pitt carried that was a hit???

Allen picked the 'Loop' because it was suppose to be a 'funny, madcap satire'--it wasn't! FOR THE FIRST TIME, IN OVER 68+ YEARS EVER, I WALKED OUT OF A MOVIE BEFORE IT WAS FINISHED!!!

I
would liKE to tell you what this movie was about but I (and neither
Allen or John) had any idea what we were watching not to mention we
couldn't understand half of what was being said except for one actor
whose dialogue was a curse word almost every other word.

About
an hour into the movie we looked at each other and realized that we
were all  bored and had no idea of what we were suppose to be watching.

When
I came home I went to   https://www.metacritic.com/film/  to see what
the professional critics had to say and, once again, I realized why I
don't read the critics before I see a movie. There were raves for this
movie with the New York Times critic callig it a 'critic's pick' and
saying, "--a sharply written, fast talking, almost dementedly
articulate satiren modern statecraft---."  And, "The audience,
meanwhile, is likely to die laughing."  Well, maybe the audience was
dead because they certainly weren't laughing!

I
love British humor, and acting, but I didn't see either in this film.
The only actor I was familiar with was James Gandolfini and one of the
actresses, Gina McKee, struck a bell but I don't know from where.

Folks, bottom line--STAY AWAY FROM THIS MOVIE and I'm not sure we will let Allen pick the Friday movie again! :O)
