Did you ever have just one of those days?? It didn't start out that way. I was going to have
the car to do my grocery shopping which meant I could go to both Publix and Winn Dixie which I did. Besides
buying my staples I also bought myself a few treats. At 69 cents a pound how
could I not buy a turkey? I did get a 9.75 pound one for $6.71. I plan to roast
it over the weekend, slice and cut it up and put it in the freezer than throw
the bones, rice and spices into a pot and make soup. I plan to have all
variations one can have with turkey from sandwiches to Ala king to stroganoff, etc.
Than I also bought a 4 pack of large banana nut muffins--yeah, I
am still on that kick--and a 1/2 gallon of ice cream. Oh, did I mention the 1/2
of large shrimp for a snack tonight? All in all I had a ball spending money and
shopping going over budget buying a steak and other goodies. I deserve it!
:O)
Got back to Gateway and first problem
I had was I couldn't find a parking spot. They are fixing all the elevators and
the servicemen had taken up 5-6 spots and as it is parking is at a premium. I
double parked and went looking for a wagon to load my groceries in to and
couldn't find one. I remembered seeing a shopping cart in the trunk so I got it
out and piled the 20 bags into it. It then decided to collapse! Off I went
searching for a wagon and keeping an eye out for a parking spot. Finally found
an old rinky dink wagon but figured it
would do the job. After getting it filled up I headed to the
elevator.
Did I mention that the elevator in our
building was suppose to be serviced Dec. 1-3?? Guess what? That's right, they
were ahead of schedule and were working on ours now!! I went screaming--well
maybe a loud voice--about "Why weren't we told? I wouldn't have gone shopping
today?" and so on. Lisa picked up her phone and called one of the maintenance
men to carry my groceries up the 3 flight of steps.
An aside--one of the first lessons you learn as a senior citizen
is to start raising your voice when you are unhappy with something and you will
get attention and help immediately!! :O)
Got the groceries upstairs and put away while the car was still
double parked. When I got downstairs my neighbor came out of the building
grumbling about the elevator and about having to go shopping. I offered her
sympathy and empathy but I got her parking spot!!!!
Just had my 1/2 pound of shrimp with a
home made cocktail sauce and then a banana nut muffin--don't ask. I will take a
walk down to the point and then come back, have dinner, watch TV, call Allen,
read and comment on blogs.
Obviously it wasn't all a bad day--in fact I am feeling pretty
good right now except for a burning and itching in my eyes--maybe the ice cream
will solve that! LOL
