Island City Pizza--restaurant Review

I
had gotten a coupon from groupon.com which I paid $10 for $20 worth of
food for Island City Pizza recently bought by a couple who also bought
the The Corner Pub next door. I would like to tell you who the owner is
but though, he, Allen and I were the only people in the place the whole
time, as much as he talked, he never introduced himself. We did hear how
he and his partner bought the place, had to buy both places, how much
they invested, etc., etc., but never his name.

Basically
a pizza place more than an Italian restaurant, though the owners are
working at changing that, Island City Pizza has a gimmick that they use
when delivering pizza. They feel that the oils keep contained in the
pie, and the pie stays hotter, if it is not cut until it is delivered at
which time they cut it.

Allen
and I ordered the 16" pizza ($12.99) with olives and pepperoni ($2
each) toppings, which is baked in a brick oven and is made with a thin
crust--I prefer thick but that doesn't stop me from eating it
thin--baked very crisply, well done. We had diet cokes ($1.25 each)

The
pizza was good, the restaurant clean but nothing made it stand out to
bring us back. In fact, and this is a touchy subject, aside from the
fact that the owner didn't introduce himself he didn't shave, was
wearing a gray looking t-shirt and, in general, looked grubby. The
restaurant is in a very laid back area, Wilton Manors, and one doesn't
expect a person working in a restaurant, in South Florida, to wear a
shirt and tie but most cooks, chefs and owners who work in the kitchen
do wear a clean white apron, shave and are presentable to their
customers.

By the way do you think a restaurant owner should be tipped?

Reasonable prices! But something about stripmall eateries turn me off--atmosphere? And to answer your question: No.
