Iguanas & Hurricane Elsa!

All of a sudden there seems to have been an explosion of Iguanas around. The thing is they are so well camouflaged you are almost on top of them before you know they are there! (Except for the 2-3 babies I have seen who are too fast running away to get a picture of!) These two didn't put their head up until I stepped on a branch alerting them I was around. As long as I didn't get too close they continued eating until they felt I was a danger to them and then they ran, very quickly, to the nearest tree and climbed it as fast as they could!

They really are fascinating to watch and so far they don't seem to do any harm to humans and/or animals but I binged the following

https://thepetfaq.com/are-iguanas-dangerous/ so if you want more information here you go!

Regarding Hurricane Elsa---right now we are having sunny, hot, humid weather with what looks like rain clouds starting to drift in. Most weather reports have Elsa missing us here in South Florida but not sure about North Florida. Here is the latest report:

Will keep you up to date!

I guess a lot of people are checking to make sure you make these daily posts. It looks like the hurricane turned, thank goodness.

Right now it is a cloudy, light windy, day!
We have been very lucky with NOT getting hurricanes the past decade!!

5% of my thoughts about Florida have been about you - the general daily 'Great Martin' this or that, lately thinking about how the weather might affect you. This is the latest stream of consciousness: "Martin...Allen's car...hurricane...4 or 5 story buildings...carrot cake." The other 95% of my recent thoughts about Florida have been about that condo collapse (and yes, it ran through my mind: "I'm glad Martin doesn't live in a taller building"). We were watching Manifest on Netflix after several days' break from it and my first thought was that it's hard for a fictional situation to compete with that true-life drama. I still have my copy of John D. MacDonald's "Condominium" and I'm going to see if I feel like re-reading the whole thing.

Are those iguanas native to your area, or escaped/released pets?

As far as I know these iguanas are from pets being let loose in the 'wild'. They are great pets until people realize 1) they are NOT dogs or cats and 2) they GROW!!
Our main problem witb weather, especially on our property, is flooding, especially during high tides!
Ahhhhhhh---carrot cake!!
