(How could you not like a restaurant that has its desserts in the top center of the menu????)
It being Wednesday (who's in a rut???) Allen came by to take me on my errands and then we went for lunch. I had to stop at the bank to cash a check from an e-bay buyer--we are doing good on the coin auctions--$1,000 the first week on 2 items--then I went to 7-11 to buy my winning lotto ticket (for the 19th year of Wednesdays in a row!).
After that we went to the post office so I could mail off one of the packages of coins to the winning bidder. For a moment I thought it was pre-Christmas--the line was long. I, also, bought some of the 'forever' stamps with prices going up in may.
For over 29 years I have been passing the Georgia Pig restaurant on 441 always meaning to stop and have lunch there but never did. Most reviews I have read called it one of the best.
Since it is right near one of the Indian reservation cigarette booths we decided to give it a try. I ordered the sliced bar-b-q beef platter and Allen got the pork platter. Both are served with French fries, half of a hogie roll and cole slaw. I did enjoy the cole slaw which was a little on the sweet side--the fries were standard fries. I much prefer pulled beef/pork and this was sliced and a little dry. Their sauce really didn't impress me.
I was glad I finally got to try it out but don't think I will go back there as there are, at least, 3 other barbecue restaurants I find much better.
Today was one of those perfect 'tourist weather' days--wish I still had my convertible--would have loved to just put the top down and drive to Key West crossing over the 7 mile bridge--great day for it!!
