Went to the
urologist today and one of the first things he did was to take off the
Foley bag--HOORAY!!!! Now if I function normally tonight that should be
it--otherwise if I am unable to urinate it means going to the ER and
having another Foley bag inserted--no way do I want that to happen!!!
He gave me 3 new medicines--I now take a total of 16--hopefully I will be cutting back on them soon.
One
of the things that drives me crazy is what I see as waste in the whole
health care system--I have over 25 X-Rays at home!!!!! What am I
suppose to do with them? Frame them and hang themon my walls? Give them as holiday presents? The doctors don't seem to want them as they take up room!!!
Can I send you a framed picture of my bladder? Kidney? How about stomach?
Then
today, via snail mail, I received a 'Medical Device Identification
Card' to carry with me 'to provide quick information about about your
device for your doctor during follow visits or if you require emergency
medical assistance'. What device? The pig valve?? And the doctor's
name 'may or may not be the same doctor who implanted your device."
Just another example of not telling the patient anything and some of
the miscommunication.
At least I have the Foley bag out--who could ask for anything more?!?!?!?
