a nerd, a femme fatale (not so fatale), a double cross, a sting--not that much new here but with eye candy like Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor, along with a sex club and fast pacing (except for the first slow 20 minutes for the set up) not to forget good photography of New York and Madrid "Deception" is a pleasant hour and 47 minutes.
I am not really good at figuring out all the twists and turns in thrillers so I was glad that it was all explained at the end--well, almost all as I still am a little confused as to the bombing and in shock about what didn't happen with the money!!
Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor are on the screen either together or apart throughout the whole film and they both are good looking people--even at the beginning when they are establishing Ewan as a nerd his looks shine through.
Unfortunately the females in the cast don't come across as interesting as the men either in the looks or acting department. At one point, watching Michelle Williams, I thought of what a Lana Turner, probably not as good an actress, would have done with the role, especially playing against and with the two men.
The other women are mainly used as sex objects in regard to the sex club but with an interesting twist all except for Lisa Gay Hamilton who plays a detective and whom I have always liked.
Nothing relevant to the movie, having not been to NYC since 1985 I am pulled in watching movies that are filmed there to see how it has changed and the more films I see the more I feel I wouldn't recognize the city anymore!
This certainly isn't a must see movie nor is it memorable in any definition of the word but it is pleasant enough and what's bad about looking at Hugh and Ewan for 108 minutes??
