Last Day of the Year: December 31, 2008 Wednesday

The last day of the year started out horribly!! As you might know I have been
trying to wean myself off the tranquillizers since I haven't had an anxiety
attack in a month--I had started with reducing the dosage to 1.75 milligrams and
then down to 1.5 followed by 1 milligram and then .75 milligrams staying on each
for about 8-10 days. Last night I decided to go to .5. I went to sleep fine and
then at 7 AM I jumped out of bed in a panic. I couldn't go back to sleep, was
feeling a little anxious and after about an hour took .25 dose and went down to
speak to Larry who helped me calm down. I am undecided whether I will take a .5
dose or a .75 dose tonight--will probably go with the former as I can always
take another 1/4 if it doesn't work.

Allen picked me up around 1 PM after he finished bowling. He said he didn't
have any money as he had left his wallet at home--sure, who hasn't heard THAT
before?? (LOL Kidding Allen!) Our first stop was the bank--as always on
Wednesday--good thing he has a rich friend (I'm talking about me, folks!!!) as
he needed gas and we were going for lunch.

Doing our regular routine we went to CVS where I picked up a new blood
pressure monitor and 4 prescriptions. Then on to 7/11 to pick up my winning
lotto tickets only to find out I had lost Play4, AGAIN, by one number.

After that we went to Wilton Manors and had lunch at The Courtyard. Funny but
though it has been open for about 25-30 years I had never been there. Allen and
I split a Black Forest (roast beef) and a meatloaf sandwich plus an order of
French Fries and potato salad. It was okay but not particularly a place I would
go back to.

After that we walked--yes, walked--down to Out Of The Closet, a thrift shop
as I am looking for a recliner, a large wall clock and a coffee mug. (The latter
because I only have two and with Mike and Alfred so coming down I will need a
third, but that's another blog.LOL) They didn't have anything there so we
walked--yes, walked--to another thrift shop but they were already closed. WE DID
A LOT OF WALKING!!!

After that we stopped by John's new townhouse knowing that John and Gino
would probably be there working and they were.

On the way home we stopped at the laundry where I picked up my shirts and
laundry.

After Allen left me off I put my laundry away, read my snail mail, recorded
my prescriptions, went down to the breezeway and sat and talked with a few
neighbors.

Came home and went through my scratch off tickets and won a total of
$5---whoopee!! LOL After that I made my salad for dinner which I will have about
9 PM. Still being on my diet I measured everything: a head of Romaine, 1/4 cup
shredded cheese, 4 ounces of onion, 6 cherry tomatoes 8 ounces of chopped, fresh
turkey topped with 4 tablespoons of light Good Seasons Honey Dijon salad
dressing.

The rest of the last evening of 2008 will be spent watching "That's
Entertainment" on TCM channel, eating my salad and maybe, just maybe, either
going to the Breezeway where I can see the fireworks from downtown and the beach
or just watch them from my walkway.

'They' say that  whatever you are doing at midnight you will be doing the new
year--(I don't believe it--in past years I did some exciting things at midnight
but didn't happen the rest of the year!)--I do know I will NOT be smoking, I
will NOT be eating nor, probably, not having sex--oh well!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ME AND

maybe if I am asleep by midnight that will mean I will get more sleep this year! I envy you being able to go outside at night and sit and talk! I won't even discuss the wind chill with you!

Happy New Year, Marty. Yeah, if that old adage about doing what you do on New Years Eve the rest of the year was true, I'll be living in my brother's basement, eating leftover Christmas M&Ms and watching the Twilight Zone marathon til December. How dismal. Hope 2009 is good to you, my friend.
