How Dare Hurricane Matthew Come on a Thursday?!

The sandbags are put down, the elevators shut down and the boats tied up while the sun is fighting to come out but just makes it for about a second or two. There are occasionally raindrops and West Palm Beach is going through a mandatory evacuation. It is 11:30 AM and the TV weather reports are saying we will be hit with heavy rains and winds around 2 PM. Right now 'they' are saying we will be hit with the outer bands while the hurricane will land in/on West Palm Beach.

How dare Hurricane Matthew come on a Thursday?? That is MY day to go to The Dollar Tree, Winn-Dixie, Office Depot, out for lunch, etc. Of course from what I am hearing these stores don't have anything left! Having lived down here for over 40 years and through 6-7 hurricanes I am always prepared with water and food for 4-5  days so that really doesn't concern me. What concerns me is getting out, getting away for the day but then it sounds like all restaurants will be closed!

And then there is tomorrow! Friday is my movie day and I want to see either "The Girl On The Train" or "The Birth Of A Nation" plus tomorrow evening is the opening at the Broward Performing Center For The Arts celebrating the 20thanniversary touring company of "Rent". Will they be able to bring the company in? Will they be able to set up? Also without being able to do my weekly shopping it will have to be done tomorrow plus I have my shirts in the cleaners not to mention we were suppose to go to the Cafe Vico for dinner before going to the show!

I am going to have to have a very serious talk with Mother Nature for when she schedules "Events"!

My only concern really is the loss of electricity power--last time, 11 years ago with Wilma, we didn't have power for a week. Also during Wilma the tree behind my building was shirred but made a great comeback--I hope it does well during Matthew!!

As long as I have power I will keep you up to date!

Looks like we won't even be getting rain from it on the weekend. Hopefully it won't change its mind again. You live in a sturdy building so you should be fine as long as the windows don't get sucked out. Too bad about missing all the food. I know how that hurts.

Right now it looks like we will only be getting the outer bands with the heaviest around midnight and will be clear by the AM--we are having a lot of power outages--guess FPL will want another raise in rates!
