As we watched "He Lives" I could easily imagine the years before TV, radio, newspapers, the Internet and movies, when a group of actors would go from town to town performing small plays and then moving on to the next.
"He
Lives!", presented by the Revelation Ministries, was suppose to be
performed on the breezeway but it being a cold day, for South Florida,
and the breezeway living up to its reputation they decided to do their
show on the lawn right next to it.
A group of about 16 actors, plus technicians,
did a 45-50 minute story of "The greatest story ever told" which has
been told so many times that unless it is approached from a new angle,
such as the Broadway show, "Jesus Christ, Superstar", it can be
underwhelming.
Under
the circumstances, and conditions, the troupe did a good job and held
the audience's attention but stopped the flow of the performance byproselytising and giving a sermon about midway through. Did the traveling troubadours of yesteryear 'sell' something? I'm sure they did. :O)
The
troupe worked hard, and the audience responded in kind, of which there
were few of the latter. It was a clear, sunny, and yes, cold afternoon,
but only about 30 residents of the 270 who live here came out for this
free show.
