Chloe---a Movie Review

Don't let your
wife suspect you of cheating in Toronto because it leads to a lot of sex
and a lot of trouble--not necessarily for you! The premise of "Chloe"
is that a OB-GYN, Julianne
Moore, thinks that her husband, Liam Neeson, a college music professor,
is having an affair with one of his students so, she does what every
wife does--hires a call girl, Amanda Seyfried, to entice the husband
into an affair.

Keeping score, Chloe has sex with the husband
or does she? Chloe has sex with their son, Max Theiriot and, yes, for
the men in the audience, Chloe has sex with Julianne.

I think the film
is suppose to be a psychological thriller but you are never on the edge
of your seat if it is suppose to be a thriller. As far as the
psychological part goes you suspect/know that Chloe isn't all there so
when she proves it your reaction is, "So what?" There is the issue of
sexual power in any relationship which is clouded by the fact that Moore
just recently made a movie about having sex with her son and I had a
feeling that was about to happen here.

The acting by Neeson, who lost his wife during the filming,
Moore, Theiriot and Seyfried is all tops as are the bodies of Moore and
Seyfried which are certainly put on display in more than one scene.
There is, for me, something off putting about Seyfried and I really
can't put my finger on it.

The production is reminiscent of the Ross Hunter
movies with plush sets, clothes, cars and Toronto is set off like a gem
but, unfortunately, the screenplay doesn't measure up to the rest of the
film. The denouement is all over the place, hokey and disappointing.

"Chloe" isn't a great movie nor is it a
really bad movie---it's just another movie.
