Around 4 in the afternoon I let the tiels, Cassie and Lola, and the
budgie (what you call a parakeet) Cassidy out of their cage for about
4-5 hours.
Cassie
is named for the lead female role played by Donna McKechnie in "A
Chorus Line" while Lola is named after Gwen Verdon's role in "Damn
Yankee". Cassidy was named in memory of my very first bird, another
budgie, named Butch. I didn't want to name him Butch 2 and I knew just
saying Cassidy would normally bring the name Butch to mind.
Every
day Cassidy 'goes after' the two tiels not realizing that they are
bigger than he is but they are not aggressive as the budgie. He goes
after them for about 5 minutes and then they had enough and 'tell' and
chase him off.
After a while he decides to pick on the other budgie--the one in the mirror--but finally gives up.
After
a few minutes here the birds will go on their own way for the rest of
the evening--flying and pooping all over the place--well, that's what
birds do--until about 10 PM when they will go to their cages and start
squawking for me to give them their evening seed treat--and, trust me,
after a few minutes of their sounding off they get their treats!!!
