It
seems that the newest trends in the restaurant are 1) putting bacon on
anything and everything and 2) build your own burger and CG Burgers fits
the latter category plus having bacon!
Burgers
are priced from $3.95 to $9.50 and after you choose which one you want
the choices start from free to charges. You have a choice of a sesame
bun or a whole wheat bun and in the freebie choices are lettuce, tomato,
onion while cheese, bacon, etc., cost $.50 each. They also have sweet
potato fries, fried zucchini and a salad bar. The latter goes for 3
prices: a side salad $3.95, a large salad $7.95 and all you can eat for
$9.95.
You
place your order, pay, are given utensils, a glass for your soda and a
number that you place on your table so your food can be delivered to
you.
The
salad bar is very impressive but I don't see any control as to how many
trips you make to it whether you get the small bowl or large plate.
Maybe
you have seen the new soda machines but this was new to me. There are
22 choices not to mention mixing and matching. It is almost like playing
a slot machine!
The
burger was good and cooked the way I ordered, the salad bar was fresh
with many various items to choose from but--and there are two buts---the
ordering at the counter goes against my grain and eliminating complete
waiter service certainly doesn't make for cheaper prices which comes to
the second but--even with Allen just having the junior burger ($3.95)
and a side of salad ($3.95) without a drink our check came to $23.42,
which is a bit much for not having complete waiter service.
By the way I had the bigger burger with cheddar cheese ($8.25), side of salad ($3.95) and a soda ($1.99).
CG Burgers is a chain with good food but a fast food setting and I recommend it but I am not sure that I will go back.
