People
come and go from the world of blogging and both have
taken place this week. I'm going to miss LOOSEROBES of
MyBloggers--he is coming out of retirement and so he has deleted his blog.
His posts were always interesting and he taught me a lot about Utah in
an interesting way with great pictures. I will miss his musings on life
and his family.
AmericanMe
Every evening, after I post my blog, I usually scan the
latest posts stopping to read and/or comment on a few. Aside from the
topics I will talk about in a bit I really don't know what draws me to
certain blogs.
The subject? The avatar? The first couple of sentences? In any case I
came across AmericanMe first post at Blogster and I knew immediately that the reaction to his blog would bring a lot of loud mouths. Take a look for yourself and you will
know what I mean! LOL
I never have understood why people will ask
to be your 'friend' then, in most cases, not read your blog let alone bother to comment on it. I have over 100 'friends' and
wouldn't know more than 50% of them either by avatar or user name--is it
a social thing to see how many bloggers you can be friends
with? I have never understood the whole 'friend' thing and I don't
believe I have ever requested to be someones friend. What are the pluses
and negatives?
Just a personal observation--what other
people may call being PC I call being a gentleman. I, too, know all the
slurs, crude words and terms, slang, street talk but that doesn't mean I
have to use them.
There are two 'types' of people I reach out
to when I am reading the latest blogs and that are gay
and/or fat people. I have found that at one web site there seem to be
more young gay people posting blogs. I will usually
welcome them and then I 'alert' the other gay bloggers I know to welcome him/her. In most cases they disappear after posting a
couple of blogs and I wonder why and
what has happened to them. Most are dealing with coming out which isn't
easy and i always hope they find the assurance and positive
reinforcement they need.
Just in the past couple of months some fat
people posted about their desire to lose weight and, in two cases, their
desperate need. Having fought the weight battle all my life, and being a
professional in the weight reduction field for over 10 years studying
nutrition, motivation, behavior modification, I immediately respond to
people needing help losing fat. I offer food charts, tips, hints,
goals, etc., and my personal e-mail. I know in at least 98% of the cases
they are just talk. They very seldom post a second blog and if they continue blogging they usually stop
after a month or two and I just know they have given up. I still think
of that guy from Australia, weighing over 300 pounds who just
disappeared--not weight wise but from blogging.
