ALLEN ON PASSENGER SIDE ANDRE ON DRIVER SIDE
Allen's
friend Andre came down for an extended weekend and joined us for our
Friday escapade with him being the chauffeur with his rental car! We
went to see "The Tourist" (see yesterday's blog for review) at the
Riverfront downtown movie house getting there a little earlier to walk
along the riverfront.
Of
course there are always the boats and with today being the Winter Boat
Parade and this being the starting point there were a few more boats out
on Friday than usual. Allen and Andre are planning to see the parade
this evening. I have seen it a couple of times a few years ago and now I
prefer watching it on television the following week when the local
station does a special on it. They did get some good advice from an 'old
salt' as to where the best place to see it as most viewing spots are
very crowded.
We
were walking along and saw this startling sight. At first we thought
they were window washers but they were just on dangling ropes from the
roof. We concluded that they were just cleaning the outside of the
balconies and the rest of the building.
Coming
out of the movie what do you do in this day and age? Check the
cellphone, of course. Well at least they had them turned off in the auditorium during the movie!
We
continued walking along the riverfront and it was a beautiful sunny day
in the 70s though we are suppose to be getting cold temperatures
again--low 40s to mid 60s on Monday--but Andre will be back in Plattsburgh where it was 4 degrees when he called there!
After the movie we went to the Quarterdeck restaurant--more about that tomorrow--then
The Dollar Tree, The Home Depot ( I got a couple more poinsettias),
Publix and CVS. I, also, got some good news and some better news but
that's for tomorrow's (or another day's) blog.)
My friend Santa who says that living well and having good friends is the best revenge! Notice his boots and my sandals.
