My 2009 in Pictures Part 5 Odds and Ends

One of the highlights
of 2009 was getting to meet Michael and Alfredo, going to see "A Chorus Line"
with them and showing them a little of my Fort Lauderdale.

Somehow or other, and
I don't know why---LOL--a lot of things during the year has/had to do with food.
Emily baked me a few items including a pecan pie, a cheesecake and her special
bread. I discovered Flipz fudge and white chocolate covered pretzels (at The
Family Tree Dollar store!) not to forget Hula Hula ice cream.

Due to price--69 cents
a pound--plus getting a couple of free ones from The Pantry, I cooked up turkeys
with all the trimmings and had meals for a week. I have great recipes, in all
kinds of styles, for leftovers plus I use the bones to make a good turkey/rice
soup that I can nibble on at any time.

Along the way I
bird, fish and cat sat for Jill and Marilyn while they took a jaunt to
Washington, D. C. and, once again, when Jill and her mother went on a cruise via
the Panama canal. In return I had Jill's car for the three weeks total plus,
very unexpectedly, she was more than generous in other ways.

Gateway, where I live,
is always making improvements to allow living here to be safe and comfortable
and this year, for those of us who wanted it, they converted the bathtubs to a
walk in shower and I immediately got mine done.

There are so many
things that happen in one year's time that only by looking back do you realize
the events that can shape your life. Sometimes just getting a new pair of
glasses, like I did last August, changes your (sorry, I can't resist) outlook on
life. Allen buying a new car doesn't sound like it would effect my life but it
does in the fact that at a minimum I ride with him twice a week and, very
important, I get to use his car when he goes out of town. (I just have to figure
ways to get him out of town more often--oh, I know how, but that's not for
publication! LOL)

After a long fight
with various people in the health field I eventually got the most important for
people over 60 shingles vaccine. I met Bernie at the Pantry of Broward and
enjoyed Mother Nature's ever changing scenery of rainbows, sunsets, sunrises not
to forget flirting with a waiter now and then, always compensating  them for
putting up with a DOM!

It's not always the big events in life that makes one year different from
another but many little things here and there so hold on to all the moments and
enjoy them.
