My Summer Vacation

We just got back from a delightful time in Lake Geneva,
Wisconsin. We stayed at the Abbey Resort and had a
room overlooking the lake with a wonderful porch
outside. It was 74 degrees with little humidity and a
wonderful breeze from the water.

We simply had a good time with friends and it was a relief
not to think for awhile. I hardly watched all the upsetting
news, forgot political debate and just had fun.

We had teen house sitters for Rex...my granddaughter and one of her friends...and he did a lot better than when we
boarded him. He ate, although he insisted on tuna atop
his dogfood. He is a spoiled brat but his incision is looking
good and we will have the staples removed today.

One of our stops was the Taste of Home kitchen and they
had a wonderful store. I got a really good garlic press
and an omelet maker. I wish that I had gotten some
of their cookie sheets but I didn't want to lug them
around.

It is nice to be home again, having my own good coffee
and getting back to my routine. Ted did very well although
he missed Rex every day. The teenagers stripped my house
of snacks and pretty much cleaned out the fridge. I told
them nothing was off limits and they could eat whatever
they fancied.

your vacation sounds wonderful! so glad you could get away for a while and that Rex was in good hands. I had to babysit my daughter's dog when they went on vacation. He wouldn't eat his food and I was getting worried so I started making him scrambled eggs every day. He loved it!

Our pets love us so much and it is hard to leave them when you know they
will try to fast until we return. So glad to hear from you Mary and hope
things are better for you and you are feeling well again.

The omelet maker is a plastic semi circle that divides. I can put the eggs,
spinach, mushrooms and cheese in one half. Close it up and microwave one minute on each side. They are available at Walmart but not nearly as
heavy and good quality as at the Taste of Home Kitchen. I'll b et that you
could order one on line. It makes a pretty omelet. Glad that you know what I mean about the bliss of being on Lake Geneva.

So glad you were able to get away and relax for a bit. Angel is a spoiled brat too. Her favourite treat is tuna.

Rex loves tuna, the only drawback is tuna breath.

I hope you specified that nothing is off limits ONLY WHERE FOOD IS CONCERNED. That could have been a disaster! Buster is less bratty than Rex, he only demands warm water on his food although if there something better in the bowl he'll forget about the water. He'll wait for an hour or more in the morning for Donna to come and put the water on!

Fortunately, I am blind as to what went on when I was gone but felt so
lucky to have these kids spending the night with Rex. He did so much
better than in the boarding facility where he refuses to eat at all. Trust me, warm water is better than Tuna!

It's great when you have people you trust taking care of things for you. Rex is adorable, if "high maintenance". So glad you had a nice time. I attended a camp on Lake Geneva when I was about 13. It was indeed lovely.

What does an omelet maker look like. I make omelets and a lot of the time they come out more "scrambled with ..."

I goofed, your reply is above. BTW Fredo is not doing well according to Mike. That probably means he is only playing Tennis an hour a day. Seriously, he would appreciate a hello on facebook.
